Ebook
When we started building ebooks, they were Flash applications running inside a Web page. Loaded with videos and interactive components, ebooks provide a very engaging interface for the right kind of information. Since it's an app, you can also password-protect it and turn it into premium content.
We also delivered an ebook on an Android tablet computer. Of course, Flash doesn't play on the leading tablet, the iPad, and with this device making quite an impact we had to get around that. No problem – we took the Flash files and compiled them so that the application is in a format acceptable to iOS, the iPad operating system.

The Life of a Tooth
As part of a new consumer website rich in oral health information, the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) wanted an interactive timeline about tooth development and dental care. The information had to be organized by stages of life, and support the overall educational emphasis of the site.
Timelines are typically envisioned as moving from left to right along a line. However, the animation possibilities provided by Flash enabled us to propose a more 'interesting' approach – instead of movement from left to right, we created movement from foreground into the background – 'zooming' into the timeline.
This interactive Flash module reinforces the AGD goal of presenting dry information in an engaging format, so that consumers regard the site as a useful destination that is worth returning to.
We Deliver
We're familiar with that expression about the shoemaker's children. While we are passionate about delivering creatively for clients, it's not often that we get to focus our talents on our own communications needs. But in this instance we pulled it off. Needing to support a targeted business development initiative, we developed We Deliver – which included physical take-out boxes containing a flash drive in the shape of a fortune cookie. Plugging the drive into a PC opened the interface you see here.
It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun to put together. And yes, the campaign opened doors. Job done.
BDO Time Capsule
Further testament to over a decade of collaboration was Quicksilver's participation as a member of the BDO Centennial Steering Committee. We worked alongside members of the CEO's staff and internal teams to recommend and execute a comprehensive communications plan that included:
- Writing weekly news articles
- Producing monthly video podcasts
- Designing and supervising the printing of a coffee table book
- Collection of virtual time capsule submissions
- Collaborating with Disney on a musical presentation of BDO's 100-year history
- Publication of a final compilation of all the related materials on a flash drive which was distributed to the BDO partners as the exclamation point on the year-long celebration.
Polycom
This multimedia asset on Zurich North America's website raises the bar on case studies. Instead of linear video, we created an interactive case study that begins with an animated sequence and resolves to an interface where the site visitor can choose to view one of five elements, ranging from video to PDF to an interactive game.
Initially, we created this multimedia case study in Flash. Recognizing that some users have devices that do not support Flash, we then redeveloped it in an alternative format for iPads and iPhones. And just for good measure, we also compiled it as a small app that can run locally on the iPad.
